Today India is the country where carrom is most popular (all 950 million inhabitants know about it and most of them are pretty good at playing!)and carrom's most recent history is closely linked with this nation. The first Laws dating from the 1950's were written by the All India Carrom Federation and today's Official Laws adopted by the Inernational body are closely based on India's predominant style of play.

Carrom in brief

Carrom is a game of skill for all ages. It is played on a wooden board with four pockets in the corners, 19 coins and one striker, to hit the coins with. All you need is a base, a few chairs and a couple of friends and you're all set for play.
The aim of the game is to pocket all your pieces before your opponent by flicking your striker. But watch out for penlties and the Red Queen!
It's a game with simple rules but that requires a lot of practice to master and dedication in order to appreciate the finer points of srategy and skill. It is a family game for all ages and can be fun at whatever level of skill. It can be played at home or by taking part in the activities organized byFederazione Italiana Carrom.
