Si giocheranno 7 partite senza eliminazione con il sistema Svizzero (25 punti o 8 boards - 40 minuti). Questo torneo sarà valido per la classifica di campione del Lazio e la selezione degli 8 giocatori che parteciperanno al Master.

V CAMPIONATI MONDIALI DI CARROM
I campionati del mondo si sono svolti dal 13 al 17 febbraio 2008 a Cannes in Francia.
Dall'italia ha partecipato la squadra composta da Lal Rodrigo, Amitha Ubhayathunga, Gianluca Cristiani e Claudio Motta al posto di Francesco Pedicini. Per il Krishan Sharma memorial tournament hanno partecipato anche Paolo Martinelli, Rodolfo Donnini, Stefano Fabiano e Riccardo Maurizi. Elisa Martinelli ha giocato nel torneo femminile raggiungendo i quarti di finale nel singolo e in una squadra mista di donne provenienti da Canada, Giappone, Germania e Italia.
Il livello del gioco è stato altissimo e quasi tutte le competizioni sono state vinte da giocatori provenienti da India e Sri Lanka.
Gli altri giocatori hanno dovuto accontentarsi di qualche vittoria personale nelle singole partite come quella di Gianluca in un game contro Peter Bocker, di Elisa contro la Sri Lankese Kumari oppure lo slam bianco del grande Toru Matsubara del Giappone.
Storica invece la vittoria della squadra sri lankese che per la prima volta ha battuto l'India in una competizione mondiale proprio nell'anno del 50esimo anniversario della loro federazione.
L'organizazzione francese è stata veramente ottima con allestimenti molto scenografici e equipaggiamento di altissima qualità. Anche l'atmosfera durante i giochi e i momenti di relax è stata molto amichevole e divertente e congratuliamo di cuore tutti gli organizzatori per l'ottimo lavoro.

I MONDIALI DI CARROM IN TV!
Per tutti quelli che vorranno vedere i mondiali, segnaliamo che Eurosport trasmetterà uno speciale di 52 minuti e estratti dal World Carrom Series di Delhi nel mese di marzo a partire dal 26.
La World Carrom Series è una serie di 17 episodi dove i campioni di carrom provenienti da diversi paesi del mondo si sfidano utilizzando un Format e regole del carrom diverse dalle nostre e adattate alle esigenze della TV per rendere il gioco più emozionante e coinvolgente. Vedere per credere!

5TH WORLD CARROM CHAMPIONSHIP The Competitions were held from February 13th to 17th 2008 in the Palais du Festival of Cannes (France).
The Italian team players were Lal Rodrigo, Amitha Ubhayathunga, Gianluca Cristiani and Claudio Motta (instead of Francesco Pedicini) .
For the Krishan Sharma memorial tournament Paolo Martinelli, Rodolfo Donnini, Stefano Fabiano and Riccardo Maurizi also took part.
Elisa Martinelli played in the women's events and reached quarter finals in the singles after beating France and Canada . She was also able to take part in a women's mixed team with players from Canada, Japan and Germany.
The level of play was very high and nearly al events were won by teams from India and Sri Lanka.
Other players had to make do with personal vicories in single games like Gianluca who beat Peter Bocker, Elisa who won one game against Sri Lanka and Toru Matsubara of Japan who scored a white slam!
The team event was won by Sri Lanka who beat India for the first time in the history of world carrom and that in the very year of the federation's 50th anniversary!
The French organization was really excellent esecialy considering the large number of events held in such a short time. The standard of the equipment was also very high as was the beautiful scenery and setting. The atmosphere was also at all times very friendly and everybody had a very good time. We cannot thank the organizers ebough for their excellent work. Further details and full results coming soon.

WORLD CARROM CHAMPIONSHIP ON TV

CAMPIONATO ITALIANO 2007-2008
LA QUINTA TAPPA DI ROMA è stata vinta per la seconda volta da Sriyantha Weerasinghe rimasto imbattuto dopo 6 rounds. Sriyantha adesso si trova in testa alla classifica generale (ma bisogna tenere conto degli scarti). Al secondo posto Gianluca Cristiani sempre in forma nonostante quest'anno si sia allenato poco (!) e terzo Patrick Philips.
E' stato un torneo molto tranquillo in pochini per i vari impegni elettorali e qualche assenza giustificata (congratulazioni Jude!) ma speriamo di essere in tanti per il 10 E 11 MAGGIO CHE SI TERRà L'ULTIMA TAPPA DI CAMPIONATO REGIONALE AL VECCHIO CASALE CEPLAC ABBINATA ALLA SELEZIONE PER IL MASTER. Speriamo di essere in compagnia di molti amici milanesi e altre parti di Italia.
Ricordiamo anche che Domenica mentre gli 8 straforti giocano il master, tutti gli altri potranno fare un torneo di doppio che sarà aperto a tutti.
Con questa ultima tappa salutiamo e ringraziamo l'associazione 100celle che ci ha ospitato e il Caracol Carrom Club che ha organizzato egregiamente queste prime 5 tappe.

Tutti i tornei sono aperti a tutti i giocatori di qualunque nazione. Billy Stevens si sta impegnando molto per creare un atmosfera di competizione fra giocatori di carrom e quelli del biliardo. I partecipanti a questi tornei potranno vedere alcuni dei più importanti biliardisti americani e sfidarli a carrom e vice versa! E previsto l'intervento delle TV, stampa e mass media. Saranno anche organizzate attività turistiche ed altri divertimenti. Per il vitto e alloggio sono previste convenzioni con alberghi e trasporti locali. Presto verranno diffusi dei bollettini ufficiali con maggiori dettagli. Gli interessati sono pregati di contattare la FIC

ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2007/2008
The tournaments for the new carrom season in Rome and Milan will take place as follows:
In Rome six tournaments will be held on the 2nd Sunday of every month beginning in November. The best 5 results only will be valid. The first of these tournaments will be organized in collaboration with Caracol Carrom Club.
In May a Masters cup will be held for the title of Italian Champion 2008.
Carrom Club Milano will organize 6 events plus one Master for the top 9 players at the oratorio dei SS Nabore e Felice in Piazza Perrucchetti. They will also be organizing some doubles but sadly this year for technical reasons the Milano Open will not take place.

La seconda edizione della World Cup che ha luogo ogni 4 anni si è svolta dal 17 al 21 Novembre 2006 a New Delhi, India. Ad organizzare questo prestigioso evento è stata la All India Carrom Federation in collaborazione e sotto gli auspici dell'ICF.
A rappresentare l'Italia sono stati Claudio Motta da Milano e Francesco Pedicini ed Elisa e Paolo Martinelli da Roma.
I giocatori indiani hanno vinto tutte le gare.

Si chiama "Players´Guide For Carrom" il nuovo libro dell'allenatore Deshpande e può essere ordinato per 10 euro prima della Eurocup di Dortmund. Il libro è in inglese ma facile e contiene illustrazioni di tiri meravigliosi (!) e altri consigli utili.
